مفهوم گناه در الهیات مسیحی نقش مهمی دارد. همه‌ی آدم‌ها گناهکار به دنیا می‌آیند و بار گناه آدم و حوا نسل به نسل منتقل می‌شود. وظیفه‌ی اصلی هر انسانی هم رسیدن به رستگاری است و پاک کردن دامنش از گناه نخستین. برای همین در الهیات مسیحی به شکل مستقیم و در متافیزیک غربی به شکل غیرمستقیم مفهوم «شرم» نقش مهمی دارد. همه گناهکاریم و همه از این اتفاق شرمگین. یا این شرم به شکل واضح در اعترافات آگوستین نمایان می‌شود و یا به صورت نامحسوسی در متافیزیک پیچیده‌ی هگل.

این رویکرد کلی، به اشکال مختلف در نظام‌های هستی‌شناختی شرقی نیز قابل ردیابی است. احترام گذاشتن به طبیعت و کوچک شماردن خود در برابر کائنات و دوری کردن از امیال نفسانی نیز با «شرم» ارتباط نزدیکی دارند. شرم و گناه هر دو مفاهیمی‌اند که در رابطه‌ی بین انسان و خدا معنا می‌یابند. از همین رو ست که واکنش چنین انسانی در برابر بلای طبیعی، از سیل و زلزله گرفته تا طاعون، یاری خواستن از خداست برای رفع بلا یا قدرت تحمل.

اما در دوران ما هر دو سر رابطه به زمین آمده است و مفاهیم در رابطه‌ی انسان-انسان شکل می‌گیرند. حالا هم، لابد مانند قدیم، اوضاع آن‌طوری که باید نیست. اگر آن زمان، گناه باعث بد بودن اوضاع بود و انسان قدیم به خاطر گناهی که کرده و باعث شرایط نامطلوب شده است، شرمگین بود، حالا انسان جدید به دیگر انسان‌ها بدی کرده است و «مجرم» است. ما در دنیایی زندگی می‌کنیم که همه مجرمیم و به همین دلیل «می‌ترسیم».

حالا اگر سیل هم بیاید آن را به حساب گازهای گلخانه‌ای و گرمایش زمین می‌گذاریم و خودمان را مجرم می‌دانیم و از آنجایی که دیگر یک نیروی قادر فراانسانی تنبیه‌مان نمی‌کند، امکان بخشش و درست شدن اوضاع هم نیست، پس می‌ترسیم.

به همین دلیل است که شناختن ترس‌هایمان به شناخت جایگاهمان در جهان کمک می‌کند. برخی ترس‌ها سوبژکتیوند و بعضی هم در جامعه یا جماعتی مشترکند. ما از تنها ماندن، خیانت دیدن، دزد، ترافیک، زلزله، آلودگی هوا، سرطان، تروریسم، کلاه‌بردار و خیلی چیزهای دیگر می‌ترسیم و در واقع بخش زیادی از نظام معنایی خودمان را بر اساس همین ترس‌ها بنا می‌کنیم. ترس‌هایی که خودمان هم به نوعی در شکل‌گیریشان شریک جرمیم.

به نظر می‌رسد انسان گناهکار شرمگین، به انسان مجرمی تبدیل شده است که دیگر «پدری» در کار نیست که آخر کار حواسش به او باشد و برای همین می‌ترسد. شناختن ترس‌ها و گفتن از آنها به همین دلیل به نظرم می‌تواند راه خوبی برای شناختن اینجا و اکنون باشد.

چرا داستان؟

داستان‌هایی که با مفهوم ترس ارتباط دارند (در تمام ژانرهایش، از کارآگاهی و جنایی گرفته تا ترسناک) رسانه‌ی خوبی برای این مقصودند. چند دلیل به نظرم می‌رسد:

یکی اینکه ممکن است بشود با کلی‌بافی و استفاده از کلیشه، داستان عاشقانه یا ملودرام نوشت. درست است که چیز خوبی از آب درنمی‌آید، اما به هر حال یک چیزی می‌شود. اما برای شکل‌گیری «معما» – هرچند معمای آبکی- لازم است که چفت و بست ماجرا درست باشد تا مخاطب به شک بیفتد و چند گزینه برایش محتمل باشد و به قول ارسطو اتفاق «ممکنِ نامحتمل» روی دهد.

دو هم اینکه در جرم و جنایت، عواطف و انگیزه‌ها و باورها در اوجند. وقتی کسی آدم می‌کشد یا برای چیزی جانش را به خطر می‌اندازد، بهترین وقت است که خود واقعیش را نشان می‌دهد. به قول نیچه، باوری که به خاطرش حاضر نباشی کشته شوی یا بکُشی، راستین نیست.

سه اینکه برای شکل گرفتن معما یا حس تعلیق لازم است که ارتباط کاراکترهای داستانی آنقدری عمیق باشد که مخاطب بتواند به حالت‌های مختلف فکر کند. در چنین ارتباط‌های عمیقی جزئیات ارزشمند زیادی می‌شود پیدا کرد.

می‌خواهیم در ترسیدن دات کام، از ترس بگوییم، در همه‌ی ابعادش. شکی نیست که سنگ بسیار بزرگی را نشان کرده‌ایم. اما می‌خواهیم از کوه فوجی بالا رویم؛ آرام، آرام.

    نمیذونم برداشتی که داشتم چقدر نزدیک بوده به منظور اصلی جمله، ولی برای من لینکی بود به احساسی که از کودکی همیشه باهام بوده
